Gemma Mengual Civil was born in Barcelona on April 12, 1977.
She is considered one of the best Spanish swimmers of all time.
Is currently retired from the synchronized of Spain.
Gemma Mengual began with 8 years in synchronized swimming and joined the Spanish team in 1992. In 1994 he was runner-up youth of Europe.
In the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games was eighth in duet. In Athens 2004, with the Spanish team managed fourth place in the form of equipment. In the form of duo finished in the same position.
Thanks to the results obtained in the European Swimming Championships 2008, Gemma Mengual is the only swimmer in the world who won four gold medals at a European Championships.
Already in the 2008 Beijing Olympics won two silver medals in both duet and team, which was her last Olympics.
Besides swimming, she has appeared as the cover for magazines like Sport Life, Line, Interviú and Man, or who designs the swimsuits synchronized swimming team.
