Fernando Alonso Diaz was born in Oviedo on July 29, 1981. He is a Spanish Formula 1 driver who has twice won the World Drivers’ Championship in Formula 1.
Along with Alfonso de Portago and Pedro de la Rosa is one of the three Spanish men who have reached the podium in this competition, being the only one who has achieved victories.
After a successful career in minor categories, in 1999 Adrian Campos, former Formula 1 driver becomes his manager and leads the race for Fernando to the premier class coming in as replacement for Marc Gene in Formula Nissan, becoming champion of the Euro Movistar Open.
After a stint in Formula 3000, in 2001 he was hired by Renault, and debuted at the Grand Prix of Australia at 19.
In 2003 he got his first victory, becoming the youngest driver to win a race in this category. Beginning to glimpse the enormous potential and future of 2004, following a pilot that even without victories, was full of big hits. In 2005, gets his first world championship with Renault. A world that was forged in a spectacular beginning of the season. Third in Australia was only training for his three wins in Malaysia, Bahrain and San Marino. A brilliant start that led him to the head of the world, being the first Spanish man to get it.
He became the first Spanish driver to get it, and the youngest driver, succeeding to Emerson Fittipaldi. A year round for the Spanish, who in September was awarded the Prince of Asturias Award for Sports.
In 2006, Alonso was proclaimed champion of the world in the last race of the 2006 Formula 1 Brazilian Grand Prix.
After McLaren would sign the house with a better contract and a car that was supposed to be unbeatable but the controversies and problems within the team made him a year later returned to Renault.
After 2008 and 2009 without significant titles, Alonso signed for Ferrari. Fernando Alonso made his debut with Ferrari in the Formula 1 World Championship 2010, finishing in second place.
The season began closing in Abu Dhabi, and Fernando Alonso led the World with 8 points ahead of Mark Webber, Sebastian Vettel and 15 on 24 on Lewis Hamilton, making it the first time in history that 4 riders came to the last race with chances to win the title. Vettel took pole and won the race easily.
