Jose Manuel Martinez Fernandez, known as Chema Martinez, born in Madrid on October 22, 1971.
Along with Juan Carlos de la Ossa, José Rios, Fabian Roncero and Julio Rey is one of the great Spanish innkeepers, continuation of the long Spanish tradition begun by Constantino Miranda and Antonio Amoros and continued by the legendary Mariano Haro and Antonio Prieto.
In his resume include the two medals won in 10000 meters at the European Championships 2002 (gold) and 2006 (silver) held in Munich and Gothenburg respectively, plus many other titles in different races.
In 2008 he managed to win for the first time in his career in a marathon. Won first place in the Madrid Marathon.
In the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games came in at 16 and was the first Spanish man to reach the goal.
A year later, at the Mediterranean Games Pescara 2009 won the silver medal in the half marathon.
At the World Championships in Berlin in 2009, crossed the finish of the marathon in 8th position, the first European athlete and the second non-African athlete.
In the 2010 Barcelona European gets his third consecutive medal in a European, achieving silver in the marathon.
