Abraham Olano Manzano was born in Anoeta, Guipuzcoa on January 22, 1970.
It was one of the most important and recognized Spanish cyclists.
He competed professionally from 1992 to 2002 and his successes are numerous. He was world champion in both route (1995) and Time Trial (1998), the first male rider in history to do so.
He won the Tour of Spain in 1998 and finished second in 1995. In the Giro d'Italia, climbed the podium twice in 1996 and 2001. He also ranked three times among the top ten of the Tour de France. In total won six stage wins in the Vuelta and the Tour, all in the time trial mode.
Olano was also double Champion of Spain in both route and time trial (1994), Olympic silver medal in time trial (Atlanta 1996) and winner of several stage races a week, most notably including the Tour de Romandie (1996) and Tirreno Adriatico (2000).
He is currently the technical director of the Tour of Spain since 2004 and also attends several events in support of cycling base.
