Steve Aoki

Steve Aoki, whose real name is Steve Aoki Hiroyuki was born on November 30, 1977, and is a DJ, musician, and record producer of electro and is the founder of Dim Mak Records label.

Steve Aoki Hiroyuki was born in Miami, and grew up in Newport Beach, California. He graduated from Newport Harbor High School in 1995. He was a star player in the Varsity Soccer team. His father is Hiroaki Aoki, a Japanese born in Tokyo and Chizuru Kobayashi is his mother. His father is a former wrestler, who also founded the Benihana restaurant chain.

Aoki attended the University of California, Santa Barbara and graduated with two degrees, one in women's studies and the other in sociology. In college, he produced his first productions and performed concerts in underground Biko at the Santa Barbara Student Housing Cooperative.

At 20 years old, Aoki had launched his own label, which he called Dim Mak in honor of his childhood hero, Bruce Lee. He has also composed numerous tracks, including “This machine kills”, which was released as an album on the label Ebullition Records.

The DIM MAK label has released music by other electro house artists such as MSTRKRFT, The Bloody Beetroots and Mustard Pimp, as well as Klaxons, Scanners, Whitey and Mystery Jets. Aoki is also a club promoter and DJ. He has also partnered with Blake Miller, based in Los Angeles to remix the track "Moving Units" to produce remixes band. The duo of Miller and Aoki work under the nickname “Weird Science.”

He has remixed many artists and soundtracks, including Drake, Lenny Kravitz, Bloc Party, Snoop Dogg, Robin Thicke, SPA, Kid Cudi, Chester French and Peaches. The remix of the song "When The Wind Blows" by The All-American Rejects is included in the UK edition of the album, released in 2008 when the world comes down. On November 10, 2009 his remix of Drake's song "Forever" was released. The song features Drake, Kanye West, Lil Wayne, and Eminem. The song reached the top of the Hype Machine chart in December 2009.

In November 2009, Aoki started his own magazine, "Aoki" through a publishing company called MYMAG celebrity magazines.
In March 2010 Aoki released "I'm in the house," a collaboration with Zuper Blahq -alter-ego of singer will.i.am of The Black Eyed Peas. The song reached # 29 on the UK Singles Chart in its first week of release.

The latest production of Steve is “Neon Future”, an album with two volumes. The first volume release was on September 30, 2014. The second volume, was launched at beginning of 2015.
