Neil Percival Young was born in Canada in 1945 after starting his career in 1960, is regarded today as one of the most influential musicians of his generation.
Besides being a musician, highlights his work as composer and conductor.
His solo career spans more than 40 years and 34 studio albums to date, with an ongoing exploration of different musical genres.
He became a member of the Hall of Fame Rock and Roll twice: in 1995 as a solo artist and in 1997 as a member of Buffalo Springfield.
Young's work is characterized by the depth of his lyrics and his voice between tenor and alto tessitura, and for a distinctive guitar work, alternating the use of acoustic guitar with his signature sound distorted Gibson Les Paul, heavily modified, nicknamed Old Black and used in a large number of his songs.
Although he has experimented extensively with different musical styles, including swing, blues and electronic music, his most recognized is based on two genres: rock, acoustic folk rock trends and hard rock with a large electrical charge. Young also adopted elements of other musical styles like country and grunge, and their influence on bands like Nirvana and Pearl Jam earned him the nickname "the Godfather of Grunge".
It is also a leading advocate of environmental causes and humanitarian, founded in 1985 with Willie Nelson to organize Farm Aid helps farmers. In 1986 he helped found The Bridge School, an educational organization for children with mental disabilities in the works annually in charity festivals organized.
