Jarabe de Palo

Jarabe De PaloJarabe de Palo is one of the Latin Rock/Pop bands made in Spain. It is led by Pau Dones.

Pau Dones worked in various groups before carrying out his current project, Jarabe De Palo. Success would come after a trip to Cuba, where he got the inspiration that led him to write “La Flaca”, name of the song and first album in 1996.

His first song became famous a year later, thanks to an advertisement, leading the drive to sell millions of copies in several countries. It also became one of the so called “summer songs”.

The band defines the album as eleven simple songs, direct and unpretentious, music of half times and lyrics with a message.

After this successful first album Pau sought to show that the group was not a one-hit group, and this idea led him to launch “Depende”.

This album featured collaborations as Ketama and continued with its ironic-lyrics that got the Hispanic audience to connect with them and it even opened the gap with the Italian audience.

In 2001 they released “De Vuelta y Vuelta”, their most conceptual album. They show a slight change with the first video from the album, in which Pau appears shaving his head, getting rid of his characteristic great big hair. For this album they counted with important collaborations such as Antonio Vega, Jovanotti, Vico C and Celia Cruz. Later, the band tried to show a return to more vital and positive songs with the album “Bonito”, with features like “Mártires Del Compás”, the female singer “Elena Andújar” and their Italian friend “Jovanotti”.

By autumn 2004, the band announces the tour to promote their new work “1m2” (One square meter) with the participation of friends like Jorge Drexler, Lucrecia or Chrissie Hynde (The Pretenders). Right after, “Colaborando” featuring “La Shica” and “Carlos Tarque” as their latest album was released.

In mid-2008, Jarabe De Palo opens its own label, the “Tronco Records”. More than a label, a music shop, where the songs come first. Change the old name for “JARABE DE PALO” for one word name “Jarabedepalo” and the fruit of success of the "Reciclando Tour" was the first Book-Album they released of the band under the title "Recycling Orchestra": with 15 new songs, versions of their most popular ones and their new song "Mucho Mejor". As for live concerts, Jarabedepalo Reciclando continues the Tour, but renovated and adapted for the big stage, in Spain, America and Europe.Jarabe De Palo

The group is nominated for two Latin Grammys: Best Pop Album and Best Engineered Recording. Recycling Orchestra won the Latin Grammy for Best Engineered Recording for an Album.
In 2010, the band recorded a new single, A Glonendo, a new version of the song “Depende”. All funds raised would go to the ONG “Voces”.

In 2011 Jarabedepalo launches "Y Ahora Qué Hacemos?" their eighth album and the most Hard-Rocked project they have done so far, involving features like: Joaquín Sabina, Alejandro Sanz, Antonio Orozco and Carlos Tarque of MClan. With it, they jump to the U.S., with a full house at Central Park in New York and a notorious sold outs in Washington, San Diego, Los Angeles and again in New York at the Highline. After that, they visited Latin America with a great reception from all the Latino audience.

During 2012 they combine their Spanish tour with the most important festivals in Europe as the Nits Du Sud de France, arriving in Nuremberg, Darmstadt, Koblenz, Freiburg, etc. In October the group will return to the United States, in November they are continuing their American tour visiting: Colombia, Peru, Chile, Uruguay, Dominican Republic, etc.
