OSCAR D’ LEÓN
Oscar De Leon was born in Caracas on July 11, 1943 and during his musical career has become one of the most successful Venezuelan salsa singers who has achieved remarkable success in its many tours made by countries in the Caribbean and Latin America, and taken repertoire by countries outside the traditional area of influence of Caribbean music.
It is known as the World Sonero and “Pharaoh of the SALSA”. He is also known worldwide as “The Devil of Salsa”, a nickname given to him in Panama, decisive in his career and his success in the rest of Latin America).
He has recorded over 50 albums with several gold records, received numerous awards and honors. On March 15, 1998 New York City honored him by naming the date as Day Oscar D’Leon.
In each of his albums he has achieved global success and recognition, to mention the endless stream of hits that garnered and is still going on not only making SALSA but also for the bolero, merengue, and has entered its final production in reggaeton has done duets with Wladimir, Dyango, Celia Cruz, La India, Jose Alberto “El Canario”, Tego Calderon and others.
In 2000 he participated in the soundtrack of the Disney production, “The Emperor’s New Groove” recording “Perfect World”.
After some health problems, Oscar de Leon is much immersed in the music world.
