Anna Netrebko is a prominent opera singer originally from Russia. Her artistic career began at the Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg, where, as a janitor, she caught the attention of the renowned conductor Valery Gergiev. Guided by Gergiev, Netrebko debuted as Susanna in The Marriage of Figaro and continued to perform leading roles at the Kirov Opera, such as Amina in La sonnambula, Pamina in The Magic Flute, Rosina in The Barber of Seville, and Lucia di Lammermoor in Lucia di Lammermoor.

Netrebko has also successfully ventured into the bel canto and romantic repertoire. Under the guidance of Claudio Abbado and with lessons from the renowned Italian soprano Renata Scotto, she has performed roles such as Juliet in I Capuleti e i Montecchi, Gilda in Rigoletto, Musetta and Mimi in La bohème, and Lucia di Lammermoor at the Los Angeles Opera.

In 2002, the soprano made her debut at the Metropolitan Opera as Natasha in the Met premiere of War and Peace. That same year, she performed her first Donna Anna at the Salzburg Festival under the direction of Nikolaus Harnoncourt.
