Solea Morente

She is the middle daughter of cantaor Enrique Morente and bailaora Aurora Carbonell. Her older sister Estrella Morente is considered one of the great current figures of flamenco, her younger brother, José Enrique Morente, is also a singer, and is the niece of guitarist José Carbonell “Montoyita” and singer Antonio Carbonell.

From a very young age she was part of the family flamenco tradition and has collaborated with claps, voices and choirs in numerous albums of her father and sister, her first collaboration was in 1991 in the album Misa flamenca by Enrique Morente.

After finishing his studies in Spanish Philology, she prepared her solo debut album together with her father. The project was truncated after the death of her father in 2010.

In 2011, Jota, Antonio Arias, Florent Muñoz and Eric Jiménez, from Granada, grupo Los Planetas and Lagartija Nick, formed the Los Evangelistas group to honor Enrique Morente. In 2012 they released the album Tribute to Enrique Morente in which Soleá Morente collaborated as a singer in the songs ‘Yo poeta decadente’ and ‘La estrella’ In 2013, the Evangelistas published the EP Encuentros, on this occasion with Soleá as the main voice in all the themes. That same year she made her debut as an actress in the play Yerma by Miguel Narros.

In 2014 she resumed the project of his debut album and on October 30, 2015 she published “There will have to be a way”, her first solo album with collaborations of La Bien Querida, Los Planetas and Lagartija Nick. In addition, two posthumous compositions by Enrique Morente are included.

In 2018, together with Marina Carmona, they join with the Fundación Secretariado Gitano to launch the launch of #GitanasEnEstéreo, a campaign to support Roma women’s equality.
