Alfonso González Nieto, better known as Fonsi Nieto, was born on December 2, 1978 in Madrid and is a former Spanish motorcycle racer and nephew of Ángel Nieto, one of the most important motorcyclists in history.
In 1995, when he was still in the Junior category, he was proclaimed as the winner of the Spanish 125cc championship. He repeated as winner of the same category in 1996 and 1998 and, in 1999 and 2000, he was proclaimed winner in the 250cc category with a Yamaha.
In 2002 he managed to win four races in a world cup, finishing runner-up and behind Marco Melandri. In 2005 he decided to run in the World Superbike Championship with the private team Caracchi Ducati but due to the poor performance of the team, the following year he switched to the official team of Kchemamartinezsaki, getting a podium and finishing in the tenth position. In 2008 he changed his team again signing with Suzuki Alstare, getting his first victory at the Losail circuit in Qatar.
In 2010 he decides to return to the World Speed Championship in the Moto2 category, finishing in the 18th position. In February of the following year, Fonsi announces his retirement due to the consequences of the injury in the left foot that was made during the practice of the Indianapolis Grand Prix of 2010.
Currently Fonsi is dedicated to the world of music as a DJ, performing in several clubs in Spain. In 2016 he participated as a contestant of the first edition of TVE culinary talent show MasterChef Celebrity.
