Fernando Llorente

Fernando Javier Llorente Torres (Pamplona, Navarra, Spain, February 26, 1985) is a player from La Rioja and Spain who plays as a center forward. He currently plays for Tottenham Hotspur Football Club of the Premier League, a club he joined in the season 2017/2018, coming from the Swansea City Association Football Club.

His training as a professional footballer was made in the quarry of Athletic Club in Lezama, after emerging in different teams of regional divisions. He went through all the lower categories of the Club and its two subsidiaries. On January 16, 2005 he made his debut, 8th with Athletic Club, in the First Division against R.C. D. Spanish at the San Mamés Stadium. Three days later, playing his second game, he scored his first goal and consecutively his first hat-trick, he is runner-up in the Copa del Rey 2008/09 and 2011/12 and runner-up in the 2011/12 UEFA Europa League. In the 2011/12 season he received the Zarra Trophy, a prize awarded to the Spanish top scorer of the League, achieved his second official hat-trick and reached the record of Athletic Club’s top scorer in the UEFA Europa League.

Habitual in the lower categories of the Spanish national team, he won the Silver Bota of the U-20 Soccer World Cup in 2005. With the national team he made his debut against the Chilean national team on November 19, 2008, at El Madrigal. With the absolute carries the number «19». Since his debut, he has participated in three international tournaments of national teams: FIFA Confederations Cup 2009; in which he finished third, the 2010 FIFA World Cup; in which he was proclaimed World Champion, and Eurocopa 2012; in which he was proclaimed champion of Europe.
