Marina Heredia Ríos was born in Granada. Daughter of the cantaor Jaime “El Parrón”, carries the art in her veins reason why she began to sing from her earliest childhood, working since without rest. All her effort and dedication were recognized in 2004 when she received the ‘Young Andalusian Award of the Arts’ for being an example of work and talent and contributing to the dissemination of flamenco and Andalusia in the world.

She has attended to the most prestigious festivals of our country, from the Grec de Barcelona, ​​to the Flamenco Biennial of Seville, through the Autumn Festival of Madrid, the Jerez, Ronda, the Union or the International Music Festival and Dance of Granada. But also in international competitions like the “De single” of Antwerp, in the Strasbourg or in the week of the Flamenco of Nimes. In 2002 she performed at the Flamenco Festival in New York, where she illustrated a conference by the critic and flamencologist Ángel Álvarez Caballero.

Numerous institutions have chosen her to showcase flamenco art outside our borders, such as the Arab World Institute in Paris or the Andalusi Legacy, with whom she has made several tours. And she has acted on illustrious occasions, such as the visit of the Prince of Asturias to Granada in 2002 or the recording of the Andalusian hymn published by the Board with artists such as Paco de Lucía, José Mercé and Enrique Morente. Her brilliant career leads her to publish in 2001 her first solo album. “Me duele, me duele”, with production by Pepe de Lucía, Marina sings accompanied by some of the most recognized flamenco guitars, like José Mª Cañizares. That same year she intervened in the recording of a disc of collaborations with Hougui B. Marina, along with José Mercé, they would put the flamenco accent on this album.

Her interest in other disciplines of art led her to collaborate with dancer Blanca Li in France and to co-starring with her father Jaime “El Parrón” a documentary film, directed by Dominique Bel about the transmission of flamenco in the family. That same concern, brings her closer to poetry, especially present in her album “La voz del agua”, and that she left already patent in her performances for the VII meeting of Mujeres Poetas (2002) or in the International Poetry Festival of Granada (2005). Along the same lines, she shares the stage in Madrid in 2008 with Luis Eduardo Aute, in a shared recital of flamenco and poetry, with texts selected by the versatile artist.

Solidarity, recently we have been able to listen to several editions of the Benefit Festival organized by Gomaespuma “Flamenco Pa’tós”. This same facet, leads her to participate in the UNESCO gala in Seville in solidarity with Afghan women.
