He was born on February 5, 1985 in Santo António, a neighborhood of Funchal, Madeira Island (Portugal).

At fourteen, he agreed with his mother to dedicate himself exclusively to football. He grew up in a working class neighborhood and when he counts ten years ago, Sporting de Lisboa discovers him, Cristiano Ronaldo was playing at that time in the modest Andorinha, club of his native Funchal and where his father worked as a carmaker. After Ronaldo went to the National and six months later he makes the assignment of Christian rights. In 2001, first-team coach Laszlo Boloni, a Romanian coach, wanted him to debut that year, but a test advised him not to work hard enough. A year later he made his debut in the Champions League preview against Inter.

With the selection of Portugal Cristiano Ronaldo was part of the attack with Quaresma, Helder Postiga and Hugo Viana in the U-21 team and defeated England. In June he was the star of the U-20 team that won the prestigious Touloun tournament beating Italy 3-1. Felipe Scolari made him debut with the national team on August 20, 2003 against Kazakhstan, with eighteen years he replaced Luis Figo, one of his idols.

Cristiano Ronaldo was awarded a new Golden Ball on December 7, 2017. The Portuguese forward won the prestigious award of the magazine France Football for the fifth time in his career, in a ceremony held in front of the Eiffel Tower in Paris, thus equaling Leo Messi, both being the two players in history who most times achieved this trophy to date, in addition to being the second consecutive year that Ronaldo won the trophy, after having also achieved it in the years 2008, 2013, 2014 and 2016.
