Madonna, known simply as Madonna, is a singer-songwriter, actress and American businesswoman. He spent his early years in Bay City and in 1977 moved to New York City to pursue a contemporary dance career. After participating in two musical groups, Breakfast Club and Emmy, in 1982 he signed with Sire Records and released his debut album Madonna the following year.

Many of his songs have reached number one on the music charts of several countries around the world.

His career was reinforced by his roles in various films for which he has received varied comments. Its most praised protagonist is that of Eva Perón for the film Evita of 1996, for which she even won a Globe Award from Oropor for best comedy or musical actress; but he has received negative criticism for other roles.

Madonna has sold more than 300 million musical productions, setting the world record for «the most successful soloist and greatest musical sales of all time», included in the Guinness Book of Records. According to the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), it is the 20th century’s highest-selling solo artist, and the second-largest seller in the United States (behind Barbra Streisand) with 64 million certified albums. In the United Kingdom she is the female soloist with the highest sales of singles in history, with 17.6 million.

In 2008, Billboard magazine ranked Madonna at number two, behind The Beatles, on the Billboard Hot 100 All-Time Top Artists, making her the most successful soloist in musical history, as well as being included in the Salon of the Fame of Rock in the same year. In general, various biographers, writers, journalists and other media consider her as the most influential and successful woman in musical history.

In addition, it is recognized as a source of inspiration by several artists and for its great legacy to pop culture.
