The singer Rihanna was born on February 20, 1988 in St. Michael, on the Caribbean island of Barbados. There lived a quiet life as a teenager, until in 2004 the producer Evan Rogers, who was vacationing on the island, he looked at it and decided to give it a try. It was at that moment when he offered to leave for New York to record a demo, with songs that mix Caribbean rhythms with rhythm and blues today.

After sending the demo to several record companies, Rihanna was finally hired by Def Jam Recordings, with whom he recorded his first album, entitled "Music of the Sun", with highly danceable and catchy, published in 2005. The first single from that album was titled "Pon de Replay," Rihanna with which reached number two on the Billboard chart. With the album "Music of the Sun", Rihanna earned three platinum albums, which is not bad for the first album by a virtually unknown artist.

In 2006 Rihanna released his second album, "A Girl Like Me, which enters at number five in the U.S. charts. The first single is titled "SOS" pull himself up and get to number one on the Billboard chart, mainly due to the discharge of the item through online music stores.

"A Girl Like Me" has more than a dozen songs, inspired by dance, reggae, r & b, soul, all spiced with a touch of Caribbean music that gives it unique style to their songs. In Spain, the single was released on iTunes and in just a few days became one of the most downloaded via the network.

In 2007 Rihanna released "Good girl gone bad", an album in which we find songs like "Do not Stop The Music", "Say It", "Lemme Get That" or "Hate That I".

In February 2009 Rihanna abruptly canceled his planned performance at the Grammy Party 2009. It later emerged that the cancellation was due to the attack suffered by her then boyfriend, Chris Brown, who was arrested for criminal threats and domestic violence.

In November of that same year saw the "Rated R", a new Rihanna album whose first single is "Russian Roulette" and has enjoyed the cooperation of producers from the likes of Justin Timberlake, The-Dream, Tricky Stewart, Chase & Status or Stargate.

Rihanna is also active in charity work, primarily to help children in the third world, putting his face in UN campaigns for children and performing in festivals for children and hunger.
