Carlos VivesThe musical career of Carlos Vives began in 1988, trying to catch the essence of vallenato, a musical style formed by the mixture of various cultures and which owes its name to the Upar Valley region.

In 1989, he accepted a role in a Puerto Rican telenovela and for a time rested from his musical career. There is remembered for his leading roles in soap operas as “La Otra” and “Aventurera”. In the series Escalona, ​​performed the soundtrack of the series, which would be one of the best selling albums in the history of Colombia.

In 1991 Carlos Vives created the group “LA Provincia” with the vallenato that updated so it can be heard all over the world. Carlos Vives writes and writes most of the songs of the band and is accompanied by traditional instruments of his land.

With the company Sonolux Vives introduced on the market in 1993 "Clásicos De La Provincia" which projected the vallenato rhythms in continental and global stage.

Then he created a label to highlight Colombian artist talents of vallenato and balanced with the traditional rhythms. From that came Gaira Local Music who would be the professional label of Carlos live on.

In 1995 there is a new work of Carlos Vives, entitled “La Tierra Del Olvido” which was followed in 1999 by “El Amor De Mi Tierra”.

By 2000 Carlos Vives published “La Tierra Del Olvido” y “Tengo Fe”, albums that took Carlos Vives to end nine of the ten albums resulting in a plea for optimism and hope.

In 2001 appears “Dejame Entrar” a new work of Carlos Vives full of tropical musicCarlos Vives, produced entirely by Emilio Estefan and supported by a series of singles remixed by Pablo Flores.

In 2002 and 2005 released two compilation albums, Sings the Classics and Vallenato Romantico. In 2004 he released "El Rock De Mi Pueblo”.

In 2007 he participated in a musical production where he paid tribute to the work performed by the rock group called “Tiempo”. In 2008 there was a musical project called Pombo containing the best-known fables Colombian poet Rafael Pombo and exclusively attended by Colombian pop performers like Juanes, Fonseca, the group Aterciopelados, the District group, among others.

In 2009 Carlos Vives released the album: Classics of the Province II which achieved sales records on its release selling 42,500 copies in its first day.
