CALVIN HARRIS

Born as Adam Richard Wiles on January 17, 1984 in Dumfries, Scotland, he is a Scottish musician and producer, specialized in electronic music. He was attracted by electronic music in his teens and was recording demos in his bedroom in 1999. According to an interview with News of the World, while creating music, he began to become an antisocial person, affecting his personality . His first success was when he was 21: the songs “Da Bongos” and “Brighter Days” were released as a single club and CD-EP by the Prima Facie label in early 2002, under the name Stouffer.

Harris’ first studio album, “I Created Disco”, was released on the 29th of June 2007. It contained electroclash songs, influenced by the music of the 80. To promote the album, Harris began a tour in UK, collaborating with Faithless and Groove Armada.

The first album launch was “Vegas”, being released in a limited edition of vinyl albums, and the first single from the album was “Acceptable in the 80’s”, a tribute to the music and culture of that decade. The song reached # 10 in the UK Singles Chart during fifteen weeks. “The Girls”, the second single from the album, reached # 5 in the list in question.

In 2007, Harris recorded with Kylie Minogue. He drew Kylie’s attention after his productions were presented by another producer. Harris said that working with Kylie was “surreal but fun”, but admitted to Mixmag in 2007 that “he needed a couple of drinks to learn to know.”Harris co-wrote and produced two songs “In My Arms” and “Heart Beat Rock”for the album X Minogue.

He was confirmed as producer in a re-mixed version of the song by The Mitchell Brothers called “Michael Jackson”. In 2008 he collaborated with the British rapper Dizzee Rascal in the track “Dance With Me”.

On April 3, 2008, Harris said that the only existing copy of his next album was lost when his laptop was misplaced in luggage caused by a false management at London Heathrow Terminal 5.Few days later he stated in the Glastonbury Festival BBC 2008 that he had received his luggage, including the album. Harris recently admitted however that it was not true that the album was not in his luggage, and hoped that it would give him more time to record the album./p>

Harris’ second album was released on August 17, 2009 in the UK. The first single, “I’m Not Alone”, was conducted exclusively in Sydney on New Year’s eve. The new single debuted on BBC Radio 1 on January 23, 2009, on Pete Tong’s radio show and was released in April 2009.

Harris toured throughout the UK, Ireland, France, the Netherlands and the United States to promote his new single and new album. Calvin also worked with the singer Sophie Ellis-Bextor, co-writing some new songs for their album “Straight To The Heart”.

The popularity of Harris was recognized when his most successful single, The Girls, ascended to the highest charts of UK Single Chart, and for being one of the most famous DJs and music producers of the century. He is best known throughout the UK, Australia and Ireland, but also has a lot of popularity in America and Asia.
