Mireia Belmonte García. He was born on November 10, 1990 in Badalona, Barcelona. Daughter of the Andalusian emigrants José Belmonte and Paqui García. He was raised in the neighborhood of La Salud. On medical recommendation he began swimming at age four when he was diagnosed with scoliosis. Allergic to chlorine, in addition to asthmatic, her father pointed out on occasion that at first Mireia did not stand out above the other girls.

The Badalona Swimming Club is where it began to compete. In 2003, he won a scholarship from the Catalan Swimming Federation to train at the High Performance Center (CAR) of San Cugat del Vallés being signed by the L’Hospitalet Swimming Club. During the 2007/08 season he entered the Sabadell Swimming Club and continued training in the CAR until in 2009 he began training at the Sabadell Swimming Club. He also practices boxing and trains an average of nine hours a day, seven days a week, except some Sundays. He left his business studies to devote himself completely to swimming.
