Virginia Tola

Virginia Tola is an Argentine soprano of international relevance with performances in opera halls, such as Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, Teatro Regio di Torino, Teatro Giuseppe Verdi di Trieste, National Opera of Washington, Los Angeles Opera, Teatro Real de Madrid, Teatro Lirico di Cagliari, Royal Theater of the Monnaie De Munt in Brussels, Bregenz Festival, Teatro Colón, Teatro Campoamor in Oviedo and others.

She started her musical studies in the Municipal Choir of the city of Santo Tomé, under the direction of Professor María Elena Boero.

She completed her singing studies at the Higher Institute of Art of the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, having as a technical teacher Ana Sirulnik. She managed to attract international attention by being the winner of the first prize of the Reina Sonja International Singing Contest in Oslo, Norway, where the jury included great Lyric figures, such as Birgit Nilsson, Christa Ludwig, Theo Adam and Ingrid Bjoner. Her success in this competition led her immediately to a concert tour of various Scandinavian cities with the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra, under the direction of masters Marris Janssons and Marcello Viotti.

Her discography includes works such as Don Rodrigo and Milena by Alberto Ginastera and the Triple Concerto by Luis Bacalov, registered by the company Delos International. In 2009 she obtained the Diploma of Merit awarded by the Konex Foundation as one of the 5 best classical music singers of the decade in Argentina.

On March 24, 2011, she participated with the tenor Plácido Domingo in a free concert at the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires (Argentina), in front of more than 120,000 people. Accompanied musically by the members of the Stable Choir of the Teatro Colón, directed by Eugene Kohn.
